1.0

Built on structured engineering logic

Every number in a Nova Metrics design comes from a calculation, not a rule of thumb. The sizing methodology follows NRS 097-2-1 and NERSA SSEG guidance for residential and small commercial installations, NERSA SSEG Categories A, B, and C, from the ground up.

1.1

Load-based solar sizing

Solar is sized to cover daytime consumption plus overnight battery recharge, matched to the best available panel configuration from your live hardware catalogue rather than a generic estimate.

1.2

Multi-gate battery validation

Three checks run before a battery configuration is accepted: capacity headroom, depth-of-discharge, and guaranteed autonomy runtime, using real per-battery efficiency values to protect LiFePO4 cycle life.

1.3

Inverter sizing and compliance check

Inverters are sized with a safety margin over peak load. DC/AC ratio is validated against NRS 097-2-1, and every catalogue inverter is cross-referenced against the South African Master Inverter Compliance Register.

2,440+ certified models on record
1.4

365-day yield modelling

Annual production applies performance ratios, availability factors, and degradation assumptions aligned with South African norms, using location-specific irradiance data from 152 SA locations.

1.5

Engineering-grade financials

25-year projections apply NERSA-aligned tariff escalation, NPV and IRR modelling, maintenance provisions, and battery replacement costs. Every figure is marked clearly as an indicative estimate.

1.6

Engagement pipeline intelligence

Once a proposal is sent, the platform tracks opens, views, downloads, and read time, and surfaces a follow-up signal (hot, warm, cold) so you know who to call and when.

A

Standards, built in

NRS 097-2-1 is part of the calculation model itself, not a checkbox added afterwards. Inverter ratios, battery DoD limits, and grid connection guidance shape the sizing logic from the start.

B

Numbers come first

The engineering runs before the writing. Every proposal narrative is built around numbers that have already passed validation, not a language model guessing at a plausible-sounding system.

C

You stay in control

Your hardware, your branding, your margins. Nova Metrics runs the calculation and produces the paperwork. You handle the client relationship and the install.

2.0

Client intake to proposal, in one sitting

A guided workflow that takes under five minutes per client, start to finish.

  1. Add the client
Name, email, address, segment. Saved straight to your pipeline.
  2. Enter project inputs
Location (from 152 SA locations), load profile, autonomy hours, tariff.
  3. The platform designs the system
Panels, inverter, and battery selected and validated automatically at every gate.
  4. Review and generate
Check the Solar, Battery, Inverter, Financials, and Proposal tabs, adjust if needed, then generate the branded PDF.
  5. Send and track
Email or WhatsApp the proposal, then track views and downloads in real time.
3.0

A proposal that reads like it came from an engineering firm

Because it did. System size, financials, components, and yield are calculated first. The narrative is written around those verified numbers, in sections any client can follow.

  • Your logo, colours, and contact details on every page
  • System specs, NPV and IRR financials, environmental estimates
  • NERSA SSEG alignment status shown automatically
  • Delivered by email or WhatsApp, wherever your client actually reads it
  • Engagement tracked automatically, no manual follow-up spreadsheet

From won deal to signed handover

Once a proposal is accepted, the job moves automatically into a structured installation workspace: site visit through customer sign-off, tracked at every step.

  • Structured site visit form: roof, electrical, shading, DB board, cable run
  • Team assignment, install date, and exact equipment spec
  • Design change flag, versioning, and client approval loop
  • COC number, issuing electrician, and grid approval tracking
  • Printable handover certificate with warranty details

Five stages, every job, no exceptions

Each stage unlocks once the previous one is complete, which gives every job a clean audit trail from site assessment to sign-off.

  1. Site visit assessment
Roof condition, electrical infrastructure, shading, cable run, DB board. A mismatch against the proposal triggers a design change flag.
  2. Installation preparation
Team lead, team members, scheduled date, full equipment spec locked in.
  3. Installation checklist
Pre-installation, structural, electrical, and commissioning checklists, ticked off with notes as the team works.
  4. Final sign-off
As-installed specs, punch list items, inspector name and date recorded.
  5. Customer handover
COC number, grid approval, customer training confirmation, and a printable handover certificate signed by both parties.
6.0

When the site doesn't match the proposal

It happens. The roof orientation is wrong, the DB board needs upgrading, the cable run is longer than assumed. When a site visit flags a change, Nova Metrics generates a revised proposal, calculates the exact delta, and holds the job until the client decides.

  1. Change flagged with a reason and category
Original specs are preserved for comparison, nothing is overwritten.
  2. Delta calculated automatically
System kW, battery kWh, cost, and percentage change.
  3. Client notified with a secure approval link
Sent, opened, and responded timestamps recorded without any manual chasing.
  4. Job locked until a decision is made
Nothing proceeds on an unapproved change.

Frequently asked questions

No. You can sign up and start using Solar Intelligence right away, no accreditation required. Adding your accreditation (SAPVIA, SESSA, etc.) later unlocks a verified badge and populates your handover certificates automatically.
Under 5 minutes. Register with your company name and email, set your password, upload your logo and brand colours, and you're ready to generate your first proposal.
Full access to the system sizing engine, proposal generator, and analytics dashboard. No card required to start. You'll choose a plan when the trial ends.
Yes. Every proposal is fully white-labelled with your logo and colours. Your clients see your brand, not ours.
Yes. Under My Hardware you add your own panels, inverters, and batteries with your cost prices. The system sizes the right combination and applies your markup on every proposal.
Residential and small commercial, from 1.5 kW up to 100 kW DC — covering NERSA SSEG Categories A, B, and C. That's the full range of day-to-day work for most South African installers. Systems above 100 kW (Category D) require a full NERSA SSEG licence and municipal grid approval; the platform flags this but is not optimised for that scale.
Yes. Choose Annual billing at checkout and save 10% compared to paying monthly. Annual plans are billed upfront for 12 months. Monthly plans remain available if you prefer flexibility.
Yes. No lock-in contracts. Cancel from your billing page whenever you like and you won't be charged again.

Important information

Financial projections. All financial outputs, including estimated savings, payback periods, NPV, and IRR figures, are indicative projections based on user inputs, modelled tariff escalation, and industry-standard assumptions. Actual results vary with site conditions, consumption, tariff changes, and financing structure. These outputs are not financial advice. Seek independent advice before any investment decision.

Standards alignment. Nova Metrics designs systems in alignment with NRS 097-2-1 and NERSA SSEG guidelines as understood at the time of development, and references the South African Master Inverter Compliance Register for informational purposes. Nova Metrics does not certify regulatory compliance on behalf of any installer, client, or installation. Confirming compliance with all applicable standards remains the installer's responsibility.

Installation documentation. Handover certificates, COC records, and activity logs are operational tools for installers. They do not replace legally required documentation, licensed electrician sign-off, or municipal or utility approval.

Data and privacy. Proposal engagement tracking is subject to POPIA (Act No. 4 of 2013) and requires appropriate user consent. Installers are responsible for their own compliance with applicable data privacy obligations.

No liability. Nova Metrics is not liable for any loss, damage, or claim arising from reliance on platform outputs, financial projections, or documentation without independent professional verification.
